Patricia Eileen Terry

Patricia Eileen Terry, a beloved resident of Cary, NC, passed away on June 14, 2023, at the age of 88. Born on July 25, 1934, in Washington, DC, she was the cherished only child of Velma Leavell Byrne and William Patrick Byrne. Patricia is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Harold Terry, and her children: Christina Terry Morris (Keith) of Pittsboro, Kathy Terry Brown (Glenn) of Virginia, and Michael Terry (Amy) of TN. She leaves behind a legacy of love and is also survived by her grandchildren: Haley Morris (Fabian), Zack Morris, Mallory Brown Strittmatter (Matt), Carter Brown, Kelsey Brown Lodge (Aaron), Laura Terry, David Terry, Taylor Terry, and Veronica Terry Som (Toeur). Additionally, she was adored by her many great-grandchildren: Mia Sanchez, Xavier Sanchez, Zane Sanchez, Fabian Sanchez, Macie Strittmatter, Mackenzie Strittmatter, Maddie Strittmatter, Brayden Lodge, Berkley Lodge, Keagon Som, Eyland Som and Toeur Som. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Stephen John Terry. Throughout her life, Patricia held fond memories of her summers as a child, spending time with her cousins while swimming and sailing at her grandparents’ home in West River, MD near the Chesapeake Bay. She attended St. Cecilia's High School in Washington, DC, before meeting her husband "Hal" during their participation in competitive pairs roller skating. After Hal's service in the Navy, they started their family in Vienna, VA. Job transfers took them to Charlotte, NC, Aurora, CO, and eventually Bedford, TX, where they spent the next 33 years together. In 2005, Pat and Hal relocated to Cary, NC, to be closer to their family. Pat had an exceptional knowledge of trivia and was particularly skilled at Jeopardy. It was a well-known fact that calling her during the 7 PM time slot on weekdays was ill-advised. She had a deep passion for sports, with basketball, especially her beloved UNC Tar Heels, holding a special place in her heart. Pat and Hal embarked on several remarkable trips, including attending the Final 4 in New Orleans in 1987. However, one of her most treasured adventures was a memorable cruise to Alaska, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. While she enjoyed numerous family trips to the mountains, lakes, and beaches, the true joy of her life came from simply spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Holidays were particularly meaningful to her, as she relished being surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service to celebrate Patricia's life will be held at a later date, and she will be interred at St. Michael's Parish in Cary. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home in Raleigh.
