Diana Stracher

Diana Stracher, 62, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away on May 9, 2024, at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital after her hard fought battle with lung cancer. Born on August 30, 1961, in Newark, New Jersey, she was a graduate of Middletown North High School and attended the Stuart Business Institute. She was the daughter of Louis and Josephine (Colon) Borsellino. Diana was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always placing her loved ones at the center of her life. A proud softball mom, she spent many years cheering on her daughters from tee-ball, to high school, to travel ball, and through their college careers. With a passion for cooking, she drew from her Italian and Puerto Rican heritage to create meals that could feed a dozen, even when cooking for four. In addition to her passion for cooking was her love for golf, a sport she enjoyed playing with her family as a fierce competitor. Diana's infectious laugh and undeniable presence left a lasting impact on everyone she met. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Jeffrey, and their two daughters, Brittany (Stracher) Eisenhaur and Shelby (Stracher) Hodge and her sons-in-law Derek Eisenhaur and Christian Hodge. Diana also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Olivia Eisenhaur, her brothers, Dino and Keith Borsellino, her sister-in-law, Amy Verdibello, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Josephine (Colon) Borsellino. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at both Georgetown University Hospital and UNC Chapel Hill. They were Diana’s team of oncologists who supported her in her fight against a rare form of lung cancer. Diana took pride in knowing that her participation in a clinical trial would contribute to future medical advancements, potentially sparing others from the pain and hardship she endured. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina in her memory. Honoring Diana's wishes, there will not be a memorial service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, with details to be provided by the family.
