Alice Moldt

Alice Marie Moldt, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024 at her daughter Karen's home in Cary, North Carolina, where she had resided for the past five years. Alice was predeceased in 2016 by her husband of 63 years, Edward Moldt. Her brother, Robert Kehoe, also predeceased her. Alice Marie Kehoe was born to Vincent and Rose Vogt Kehoe in Dubuque, Iowa, on December 19th, 1931. She graduated third in her high school class at Immaculate Conception (IC), an all-girls Catholic high school, where she was chosen the "Ideal Girl" by the junior and senior classes. Alice met Ed when he pushed her date's car out of a snow bank - she thought he was too young for her, but he was actually a year older than Alice, and wedding bells would ring in January 1953. Alice and Ed wanted a large family so they welcomed Karen, Marianne, Thomas, Michele and John. Little did Alice know that she would be a resident of so many different states courtesy of Ed's varied career and their travels - starting with Iowa of course, but including Texas, Indiana, Wisconsin, Florida, Pennsylvania, Vermont and North Carolina. Alice became an expert at moving and re-enrolling us in new schools and activities - thank God for Catholic school uniforms! Alice loved music of all kinds, but especially the violin and piano. She played violin in a coterie group in Pennsylvania and Alice and Ed attended symphony events wherever they lived. Imagine Alice's delight in being able to walk from their home in Bloomington, Indiana, to the School of Music on the campus of Indiana University and see world-renowned violinist Joshua Bell practice! Alice is survived by her five children Karen Moldt, Marianne Moldt, Thomas Moldt, Michele (George) Knoth and John (Mary) Moldt as well as by five grandchildren Meghan (Jason) Craig, Caroline (Zach) Weismiller, Will Knoth, AliJane Moldt and Grace Moldt. Alice became a great-grandmother when Meghan and Jason welcomed Maxwell Edward Craig on December 23, 2023. A funeral Mass to celebrate Alice's life will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 15 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church located at 804 High House Road in Cary, North Carolina. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park in Cary. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Transitions LifeCare (https://transitionslifecare.org).
