March 2007

Please welcome Mr. Whitener on board as one of our trusted and valued Family Advocates as Family Advocate of the Month. Claud Whitener, III was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. He attended law school in Durham, NC and has been a licensed North Carolina attorney since 1977. He practiced law in Raleigh from 1977 to 1985, when he began working for the State of North Carolina. He began his State employment at the Employment Security Commission as an unemployment benefits judge. He later worked for thirteen years as an Assistant Attorney General, representing Medicaid, the Board of Opticians, the Cemetery Commission and the Division of Labor.

He has successfully argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. While representing the North Carolina Cemetery Commission for almost eleven years, he was successful in placing eight cemeteries into receivership, and had the court sell their assets at the courthouse door for failure to comply with the North Carolina Cemetery Act. Claud later managed the North Carolina Cemetery Commission, regulating and licensing the 176 perpetual care cemetery businesses in North Carolina until his retirement in October 2006. He began working for Wake Memorial Park in December 2006 as a successful Family Advocate.

Contact the offices of Wake Memorial Park at 465-0888 to arrange a tour with Claud. As a special pre-need incentive, we will provide an extra benefit by asking to meet with Claud. We are very proud to have Mr. Whitener on board! Our families love working with Claud! Call today to arrange your personal tour at our beautiful park!

February 2007

There are a few legends of Saint Valentine, all unverifiable and cloaked in mystery. Most involve a sentimental priest in the early Roman Empire who rebelled against a law preventing soldiers from marrying. He took pity on young
military men and their ladyloves and in secret officiated at many forbidden weddings. His romantic, yet criminal acts were exposed and he was beheaded, but not before falling in love himself with his jailer's beautiful daughter to whom he wrote his last goodbye, signing it, "Your Valentine."

Wake Memorial Park is creating it's own history at this very moment to be talked about far into our future. We are the first perpetual care park to open in Wake County in nearly fifty years! We also are the first to offer a place of comfort to bury our family for new purchase in Cary in nearly eighteen years. We are very proud to have our community be a part of us establishing our history as we continue to expand and develop. We are very grateful for the positive response and trust the families have placed in allowing us to protect them as well as bury their loved ones when necessary.

We thank all of our property owners for being a part of our history! We are very pleased to be of service. We would be honored to assist your family learn more about our services. Contact us to arrange to have your own personal tour now.

During the month of February we are offering a $1,000.00 savings off our regulated standard pricing of two side by side ground burial spaces by mentioning you read our February News. You may contact us by calling our offices at 919-465-0888 or Click Here to fill out our form.

January 2007

We are visiting several support groups and senior resource centers to be of service in serving as an asset in better understanding the necessary steps in pre-planning one's final burial arrangements.

During these informative visits, we share coffee, pastries and many tips on how to select the items necessary with the option chosen for burial without overspending on bells & whistles. The guests feel comfortable asking questions and receiving answers to all of their questions normally not able to be openly answered in an upfront open discussion.

If you too, are interested in having us visit you and your group or organization to provide a seminar, discussion, or meeting to have a better understanding of all the questions and answers it would be nice to comfortably identify with when making important decisions for yourself and family, contact us to be added to our calendar to reserve your space. We will come out and be your resource for providing an overview of tips, suggestions and information on how to save money and understand the steps you must take in making final burial arrangements for yourself or someone you love.

There is no cost or obligation for this informative seminar, discussion or meeting. When surveyed 94% agreed it made sense to pre-plan and while doing so, select a cost effective plan sticking to the basics as long as the value remained. We couldn't agree more. That is why we designed options to offer the items needed with the highest quality available at the highest value possible while eliminating the added expenses simply not necessary.

December 2006

The staff of Wake Memorial Park wishes you and your family a holiday filled with peace and comfort. All through the year we have serviced a remarkable number of families residing in the complete Triangle. We are grateful for the many letters sent in complimenting our progress and continuing positive changes.

Recently we have added an attractive flowerbed and design encasing the front entrance as well as the surrounding area of our fountain to include stone steps to include two beautiful granite benches. The walkway leading up to our feature Columbarium of Prayers is now lined with miniature round cedar bushes, flowers and rose bushes. There are now four granite benches to enjoy.

Wake Memorial Park is definitely expanding and much sooner than expected! We are in our preconstruction phase II of our Chapel Mausoleum and if you drive out to visit you will see how it is beginning to take shape with the location site. We also are adding on additional gardens! Contact our offices at 919-465-0888 to set up a time for your personal tour and to learn more about our pre-need options. Making our own choices has always been high on anyone’s priority list for keeping our independence and sense of well-being.

November 2006

Our Columbarium of Prayers which holds urns, referred to as niches, is our feature at Wake Memorial Park. To our amazement we discovered a lovely article written about our Columbarium at the following web site address: http://www.newsobserver.com/1091/image_media/498239.html.

"In Scapes, photojournalist John Rottet looks at the places where we live, work and play. He explores the beauty of nature, the elegance of architecture and the details of the surroundings that make our community unique." John captures a picture that is sure to always command attention and then records his findings in his research. We are very proud Mr. Rottet found beauty in our COP’s as well and felt it warranted sharing it’s beauty with our community through his photo.

Our masterpiece is six levels and contains 192 urn spaces to better serve our community. Currently we still have availability on levels A, B and C. Levels D, E and F are completely SOLD OUT!

COMING SOON…Our Columbarium of Angels will be established in our Heritage of Estates Garden. The COA will be seven levels and house 212 urn spaces. It’s beauty will be seen from miles as the bronze angel resting on top is looking up as one hand reaches out to Heaven. It is breathtaking and truly worth taking a visit to see for yourself. To reserve your niche today within the Columbarium of Angels, contact us or call our offices at 919-465-0888.

Wake Memorial Park is being featured in the October issues of Good Housekeeping © and Redbook © which are currently on the stands this month and being delivered to homes throughout the Carolinas. Our signature benefit, the Family Alert Assist Program is being featured in great detail. Our Family Alert Assist Program © was launched during our grand opening in November 2004, and already is being praised for assisting thousands of families throughout the Triangle as well as the Carolinas.

We provide coverage to our members by assigning a Crisis Identification Card to each family member to carry on them at all times. Pertinent data is maintained on our secured server. The database contains a listing the members’ next of kin, contact information, name of Church, minister/Priest, choice of hospital, main doctor contact, any medical alerts and a means for an alternative phone locater for immediate location.

We also assign CIC’s to college age kids who are currently away at college. In the event of an emergency, we will be notified and can reach their parents quickly. Most students might use a temporary address as opposed to their parents phone number for identification and thus it can be difficult to identify these students quickly. We will also have the parents cell number to rely on as a back up number in the event the parents are away and we are unable to reach them at their residence.

We are always researching and finding news ways to better serve our families before, during and after the need arises. With our “No Need for Bells & Whistles” concept, we have already become the premier park in the Triangle and the place one can feel good about placing their trust.

Click here to contact us to arrange an appointment to learn how your family may enroll in our Family Alert Assist Program ©. You can also call our offices at 919-465-0888.

It is worth it to feel the reassurance of knowing you and your family are guarded against the unexpected in life.

    August 2006

In the past most people wishing to be organ donors indicated so on their driver’s license or by simply carrying a donor card; but neither of these will guarantee your wishes will be carried out.

There is "good news" for people wanting to know their wishes stand a better chance of being honored, due to a new law effect ensuring just that.

Choosing to become an organ donor is a personal choice. A new bill, signed into law by Gov. Mike Easley, will make sure a person's wishes about becoming an organ donor are carried out. The Organ and Tissue Registry Bill makes organ donor cards legal documents. The bill also proposes a statewide registry to keep track of organ donors.

While it is well worth the investment, it may take about a year an half to begin seeing the benefit of having this type of registry in place.

The new law took effect January 1, 2006. Donor cards will be available at DMVs across the state. Donor cards must be signed, dated and witnessed by two people. We appreciate Governor Easley efforts and understanding the value this law will serve to all families through out North Carolina.

We here at Wake Memorial Park endorse organ donation and believe that it serves a great purpose. From a very young baby to someone’s Father, being offered an organ may be the only connection to surviving. Knowledge is so very powerful. We implore you to investigate the subject of Organ Donation now. Do it now and decide if you can give the gift of life in the unlikely event of an untimely death.

Visit the following Organ Donation websites to learn more about the gift of life as well as stop by our office to pick up our brochures we have on the subject.

As a community leader, Terilyn was requested to be a speaker at the Jessica Law Event held locally in Apex. The event was established to bring community awareness to all families on a subject we all need to know more about. Mark Lunsford spoke at the event as well on behalf of his daughter. His daughter, Jessica, was the nine year old Florida girl who was sexually assaulted and killed last year by a registered sex offender living in the same neighborhood. Mark testified in a state House committee in favor of the stronger regulations.

Mark Lunsford told members of the House Judiciary Committee that it was their responsibility to toughen laws punishing child molesters and rapists. The committee then voted unanimously to send a package of bills that would do just that to the full House. A few hours later, the House passed the bills on nearly unanimous votes, sending them on to the Senate.

      Jessica Law Event with
      Mark Lunsford and
      Terilyn C. de'Marsi

      Representative J. Russell Capps
      and Terilyn C. de'Marsi

"We depend on you people," Lunsford told the House Judiciary Committee. "You guys have the power to change things and keep our kids safe."

Lunsford testified in favor of bills introduced by Rep. Phil Pavlov, R and Rep. David Law, R.

The bills call for a minimum 25-year sentence for those convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against a child by an adult. Once offenders are released from prison, they would be required to be electronically tracked with the use of global positioning system technology.

Mark Lunsford has made it his mission to try and change laws throughout the nation and Terilyn endorsed his mission completely by speaking out on scenes of assisting families traumatized by the loss of an innocent child in a similar manner as Jessica by registered sex offenders. Terilyn implored each and every member of our community to get involved in protecting all of our children by completing a Child Protection Amendment North Carolina Petition by clicking on to:

      http://ncfrw.com/programs/legislation/child_protection_amendment.htm

You can do your part right now by visiting the website listed here to complete the petition. Get involved today and let’s all do our part in protecting our children. Wake Memorial Park is an activist in preventive measures in ensuring our children’s safety and was grateful to be a part of such an important event in our community.

    May 2006
During this month we participated once again in the Golden Jubilee which was graciously arranged by Ms. Toby Bowen of Resource for Seniors. It was held in Raleigh at the Jim Graham Building, to provide our services to seniors by offering a sensible approach with an upfront and sincere overview on the options available and necessary to secure when deciding it is time to prepare by pre-planning. "Who Needs Bells & Whistles Anyway...when it comes to selecting your final burial arragnments?" was part of the message our Family Advocates shared with seniors that stopped by to hear further about our park and the services we present.

"By participating in many of the beneficial programs, events and seminars geared at better assisting our seniors feel futher acquainted and well-informed of the options accessible to each with emphasizing on providing tips, guidelines and views on proven methods of saving when selecting one's final burial arrangements ahead of time, we feel confident in our ability of truly assisting our community." explains Joyce and Dave Durlam, Family Advocates.

Contact our offices to learn of the many events we will participate in throughout the Triangle. We serve to better acquaint all of our community with an overview of our tips, guidelines and views on established methods of selecting one's final burial arrangements, at the lowest cost viable but with the highest level of benefits and value feasible.

    April 2006
When asked to answer a selection of questions, the mass majority responded favorable in questions such as:

    • Did you realize a perpetual care cemetery recently became established and is now serving our entire triangle?
    • Have you read about us in the News & Observer, Cary News, Apex Herald, Fifty Plus, Cary Chamber- Member Highlight, Cary Living, The ICFA News, Woman's World or the Cary Senior Center, to name a few?
    • Are you pleased to know there is an alternative for selection of one's final resting place in the triangle?
    • If you had an immediate need today, would you contact Wake Memorial Park to service your family's needs knowing we are locally owned, managed and will have Mrs. Terilyn de'Marsi, our Founder, who brings her eighteen years of direct experience and credentials to each family, personally overseeing each service to offer peace of mind?
    • Did your assigned Family Advocate answer all of your questions and surpass your expectations on providing an exceptional overview of our beautiful park, together with our stunning state-of-the-art Chapel Mausoleum, preferred pre-need options?
    • Would you refer us to your family and friends?

We were so pleased with the positive comments and rave reviews from our property owners, the thousands of residents of the triangle, members of our law enforcement, medical community, HR/Benefits department, management, and members of our churches throughout the triangle.

The responses provided us reassurance that the triangle was indeed open and welcoming a new perpetual care cemetery offering service second to none before, during and after the need arises. We appreciate your on-going support and welcome your comments and suggestions anytime.

    March 2006
For a limited time our pre-construction Chapel Mausoleum drawings and plans are being viewed by many of our families in the Triangle, If ever there was a time to consider selecting above ground entombment, I would implore you to make the time to sit down with one of our light hearted and informative Family Advocates to allow him or her to provide you with an overview of Wake Memorial Park, our most preferred pre-need options, and to answer any questions you may have.

By allowing a visit to answer your questions and receive an informative overview, you will be provided helpful information and a rare opportunity to receive a 25% pre-need savings off our standard pricing. Our advertising budget is best spent in our opinion through word of mouth…we feel safe in our assumption that if surveyed most would agree it would be much more appreciated to receive an additional savings versus knowing a budget instead had been set aside to cover an advertising budget through tv or radio.* *Subject to end without notice 25% savings.

As we continue to grow and our list of families being protected through our Family Alert Assist Program expands, know I am grateful for the continued support and trust of our community!

    February 2006
Introducing Bob Johnson as our Family Advocate of the month. Bob has been assisting families in the death care industry for the past ten years with the utmost compassion and detailed knowledge guaranteeing an additional level of peace of mind each time he services a family on better understanding their pre-need options.

Bob has a gift for truly listening to a families needs and for taking that information and providing an overview of options that make sense financially, emotionally, and logically. Discovering one’s options does not have to be a subject that presents fear, anxiety, or confusion.

In fact, after most all friendly low pressure visits with Bob, a family will comment to me personally how comforting, knowledgeable, and compassionate he was resulting in the family deciding to pre-plan on their own accord. This occurred because pre-planning is something we all know we should accomplish sooner than later and when we are truly blessed with working with a professional such as Bob it makes the decision so much easier and rewarding!

We are very pleased and proud to have Mr. Johnson on board serving our entire triangle!

THANK YOU BOB for all of your support, assistance, and for serving so many families with the ethics and commitment to their best interests at all times.

      Sincerely,

      Terilyn C. de’Marsi,

Just know that we all are here for a very short time on this earth and while we are grasp hold of our family values and the love of our family. October 2005
As the Founder, I would personally wish to thank each of the families that have placed their trust within Wake Memorial Park. We are overwhelmed by the positive response from so many within the Triangle, and the tremendous number of families wishing to preplan by enrolling in our Family Alert Assist Program!

By enrolling in the FAAP, each family is issued an Identification Emergency Card to keep with them at all times. In the event of an emergency, our 24/7 service is contacted by local authorities to obtain pertinent information such a medical alerts, hospital of choice, insurance data, and other valuable data necessary to assist the situation at hand.

As a Family Advocate, we contact the next of kin so that they may alert the family of the emergency. We offer a variety of services during this difficult time such as assisting at the hospital, arranging a babysitter, making additional phone calls on your behalf to other family members, and contacting your minister or priest to make them aware of the emergency.

We also offer this service to children who are attending college away from home, as well as teenagers of driving age, to provide the parents with extra peace of mind. Perhaps having this service may make all the difference in getting to your loved one quicker so that you can be with him or her in the event of an emergency. We are very proud to offer this lifetime service at no cost to our property owners.

Once a family enrolls in the FAAP and prearranges their burial program it stops inflation. By securing your FAAP it freezes the cost of your burial spaces as well as your memorial and burial vaults, if desired. By doing this, it will eliminate the possibility of your surviving spouse having to make choices alone without your emotional support, or your children or strangers having to decide for you. Most importantly, your wishes are honored.

It is very acceptable to preplan your cemetery arrangements because you are selecting, purchasing, and planning for items that you will need when a death occurs. Once these items are secured, you and your family will never be burdened with paying the escalated prices and making the decisions under less than desirable circumstances. It is not a policy or an estimate of items you are paying into. Once you make your selection, the price will never be higher later. It is an excellent way to save a tremendous amount of money on a service we will all need, as it is a fact that funeral arrangement costs will double every eight to ten years. To learn more you may wish to research the topic by visiting the ARRP.

Enough about my conviction of the important reasons to give serious thought to taking that first step in meeting with one of our Family Advocates to learn more about your options through our FAAP! Just know that we are here for your family before, during, and after a need arises.

Again, we sincerely appreciate each and every family that has allowed us to serve their needs at our beautiful park!

      Regards,

      Terilyn C.de’Marsi

Community Service comes natural to the Family Advocates and the Founder, Terilyn. This month we choose to select a rest home/skilled facility in the Raleigh area and deliver cakes.

Not only did we get much pleasure out of bringing in the cakes, we had so much fun cutting the cake and serving it to all the residents. It was a special treat and we think many of the residents, the staff, and for sure us…had a very fun afternoon!

It was very nice getting out and meeting our community. One of the services we also offer our rest homes/skilled facilities is donating flower arrangements and plants from families wishing to do so after a service.

If requested after a service of a loved one, we manage to personally deliver the flower arrangements or plants to the homes so the residents can enjoy them!

This is a very much-appreciated service by the residents. We are always looking for ways to serve our community. This is just one of the many areas of interest that we enjoy sharing.

    May 2005
Did you know that Wake Memorial Park is able to provide some of the most beautiful and cost effective titanium gray granite monuments to our community? Many of the cemeteries today are no longer able to offer locations for monuments within their grounds based on upkeep restrictions for one of a variety of reasons.

At Wake Memorial Park, we feel that it is very important to keep our family traditions strong and alive. If it is customary for your family to have a monument, know we are able to provide not only a beautiful garden - The Garden of Hope for the display of monuments- but we are also able to offer the wonderful service of being able to select within our CAMPEN Line of monuments.

These gorgeous monuments are available through Wake Memorial Park in an Apex or Serpentine classic design with or without vases. The quality and value are second to none…certainly worth viewing so you can see for yourself just how stunning each granite monument is in our line. In fact, come out and tour our park to see for yourself.

The English Private Mausoleum has arrived…

English Private MausoleumWake Memorial Park has a newly placed stunning side by side private mausoleum crypt for two in The Heritage Garden. It is referred to as The English and is a rich mahogany brown granite that is solid granite.

The craftsmanship is second to none. Being entombed in a private mausoleum is for the family wishing to offer an added choice of burial. It is a myth that this form of burial is only for the wealthy. In today's day and time, this form of burial is affordable for most any family desiring a distinctive form of burial.

The English Private Mausoleum is currently available for purchase. We will be more than happy to point out the exceptional features and magnificence of The English by calling our office or by completing an information form for additional assistance.

Invitation for additional information for the Churches of our Triangle…

We are receiving quite a few calls from several of the Churches in our area requesting assistance for learning more about our services and programs.

We are more than pleased to assist your Church in learning more about our services and programs. We invite you to contact us for a personal tour of our park and for one of our Family Advocates to visit with the staff of your Church to better learn of our services.

Our Family Advocates are highly trained to speak at your functions and are able to answer questions concerning preplanning options, what to expect when planning a funeral, and how to assist your parents when you're the adult children just to name a few of the topics.

We will be more than pleased to discuss private sections for your Church and the members of the Church. It is becoming more of a common practice for a Church to inquire about purchasing a hundred spaces or several hundred more to be utilized only for that Church.

Contact us by calling our office or complete an information form for additional information and assistance.
